Summary:

The Indians are playing much better ball of late. They entered action this week in 1st place. The NBA Draft Lottery is a week away. Who will evil David Stern’s rigged system

Hosts: Mike Kresic, Tom Kresic

Running Time: 32:33

1Q: Indians Getting Hot

Good pitching of late.

  • Ubaldo has thrown three consecutive impressive starts, including Saturday’s win against Justin Verlander.

  • Masterson looked like an ace in Monday’s 1-0 complete game shutout.

  • McAllister pitching better.

  • Lack of save opportunities for Perez.

  • Lots of good hitting, coming from all spots of the lineup.

MLB leaders:

  • Reynolds leading with 11 HRs already 5th in RBI.

  • Santana a league leader in BA

  • Bourn back from the DL.

2Q: More Tribe

  • New players providing big contributions (Reynolds, Swisher)

  • Yan Gomes calls a good game (pitchers ERA < 3 when he catches) and throws out runners.

  • Chisenhall sent down to AAA Columbus. His throwing error that led to a Tiger run probably sealed the decision since he was already struggling at the plate.

3Q: NBA Lottery Next Week

  • Cavs have the third best shot at landing the top overall pick.

    • Orlando 25%

    • Charlotte 19.9%

    • Cleveland 15.6%

    • Phoenix 11.9%

    • New Orleans 8.8%

  • The also own the Lakers pick (#19) and #31 and #33.

  • Play the Lottery game to see what might happen.

4Q: Who Might the Cavs Select?

  • Nerlens Noel is the top candidate for most teams.

  • Oladipo, McLemore, Burke, Porter are other top prospects but may not all fit with the Cavs.

GameTime Cleveland 121: Waiters and Zeller

Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have been affected by the devastating wildfires in Colorado and the storms along the East Coast. Here is a link to the American Red Cross web site if you feel inspired to make a contribution to relief efforts for displaced families.

1Q: Cavs Draft – Dion Waiters

  • Most draft experts think we reached for Dion. No mock drafts had him going earlier than 7. Did the Cavs reach too high for him and leave a better player on the board?
  • People want to know why we drafted a guy not good enough to start for his own college team. His former coach (Jim Boeheim) and his new one (Byron Scott) say ‘yes, but he FINISHED all of them’.

2Q: Cavs Draft – Tyler Zeller

  • Zeller is a true 7’ center that can run the floor (good for a young team).
  • He’s projected to be a 12pts, 10 rebs kind of guy. Is that good enough for a 1st round pick considering what we gave up to get him?
  • Our polls on Waiters and Zeller are still open, so cast your vote.

3Q: College Football Gets a Playoff System… Finally

  • This took forever, but they approved a playoff system. They should’ve just listened to Mike for the last several years. That could’ve saved us all a bunch of time and agony.
  • The four-team playoff won’t start until 2014 and some details have yet to be revealed.
  • Don’t forget that Ohio State is not bowl eligible in 2013.
4Q: Indians have a lousy week
  • The dropped 2 of 3 to Houston and were then swept by the Yankees in New York.
  • They salvaged the road trip by taking 3 of 4 against the Orioles.
  • Masterson and Ubaldo pitched well in June, but the rest of the starters are terrible (Lowe, Tomlin and Gomez).
  • Lonnie Chisenhall on injured list after getting hit in arm by pitch will miss 10-12 weeks (likely the rest of the season).
  • The team is 40-38 as they near the halfway point of the season.
  • Asdrubal Cabrera and Chris Perez named to the AllStar team.
  • If Perez, how many more times will we have to hear him vent on the Cleveland sports fans?
  • Kipnis deserved to be selected, but in his 1st full season this wasn’t going to happen.

The Indians find their bats in Kansas City. The NFL releases a brutal schedule for the Browns. And the Cavs are limping along to the end of the season. Plenty of sports to talk about this week. Its GameTime!

Qtr1: The Indians extend Carlos Santana’s contract. And they turn to Johnny Damon for help while Grady Sizemore recovers from his latest injury. Are these good moves?

Qtr2: The bats came alive in Kansas City after a horrible home stand to begin the year. We’ll talk about the first week of the Tribe’s 2012 season.

Qtr3: The draft is one week away. What’s the dream scenario for the Browns? Is there anything they can do at this point to make dramatic improvements in their record as Mike Holmgren promised? With the new schedule, it will be tough.

Qtr4: The Cavs can’t wait for this season to end. With the 5th worst record, they seem to stand a good chance of getting one of Kentucky’s starting five if they desire since all five declared for the NBA Draft.

The NBA Draft is over and Mike is not in love with the Cavs’ draft strategy. He’s breaking down what the Cavs did and didn’t do for the entire show. It’s GameTime!

1st Quarter: The Cavs take Kyrie at #1. No surprise.

2nd Quarter: The Cavs take ‘the reach’ of the 1st round at #4.

3rd Quarter: No more players come to us in the 2nd round.

4th Quarter: How did the teams in our division do? What about some local players?
